CustomVue Movie

To correct nearsightedness, the cornea must be made flatter. This is accomplished by removing tissue from the center of the cornea

To treat farsightedness, the central cornea must be made steeper. This is accomplished by directing the laser beam to remove tissue from around this area.

To correct astigmatism, the cornea must be made more spherical. By changing the pattern of the beam, more tissue is removed in one direction than the other.

Like your finger print, your CustomVue Map is unique to you

The CustomVue Map is derived from technology first developed to correct distortions of light waves from space. This allows researchers to accurately view images of stars and planets. The CustomVue Map uses the same technology to measure light waves as they travel through your eye.

Without a tracking device, laser vision correction requires patients to hold their eyes perfectly still during the process. However, even a "still" eye makes minute, involuntary movements, including slight movement with each breath. The 3D ActiveTrak follows the most specific movement instantaneously, repositioning the laser automatically to ensure laser accuracy.

VISX STAR S4 ActiveTrak

In the early 1980's, VISX, INC. developed the first Eximer laser designed to improve the precision and predictability of altering the shape of the cornea over the previous technique (RK) that used incisions. We use the newest generation VISX STAR

S4 ActiveTrak™ Eximer Laser System that incorporates variable beam technology with an active eye tracking system.

The ActiveTrak™ continuously positions the laser beam precisely on the eye throughout the procedure. It is the only 3D tracker that is capable of tracking all eye movements (side-to-side and up and down) and there is no need to dilate the pupil.

This assures accurate placement of the beam, helps our patients feel more at ease during treatment and allows patients to appreciate their improved vision much quicker. The VISX STARS's variable beam technology provides faster treatment times, a smoother surface, and allows the surgeon to shape the beam to meet each patients's individual correction need.

Eximer Laser

Laser vision correction has revolutionized vision care.

Common vision problems that cause one to be  nearsighted, farsighted and/or suffer from astigmatism, can actually be treated.

Variable Spot Scanning (VSS) is an exclusive VISX® laser technology that allows for a larger treatment area.

This offers us greater flexibilty in developing a more personalized laser vision procedure, when pupil size may be a consideration
